Privacy Policy

This policy covers the OpenPayload informational website. It does not make one developer the controller of data independently handled by community-operated network participants.

EffectiveSeptember 14, 2026
Plain-language summary

The website does not ask you to create an account, submit a form, or make a payment. Hosting and security systems may still process ordinary technical data. Payloads sent through independently operated OpenPayload software are governed by the choices of the applications and network operators involved—not by this website policy.

01

Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the OpenPayload website and pages that link to it (the “Site”). It does not automatically apply to third-party applications, developer documentation hosted elsewhere, source-code platforms, or independently operated Directory, Relay, Cache, Validator, or other network services.

02

Information the Site may process

The Site itself does not currently provide account registration, contact forms, payment processing, or advertising features. The Site’s hosting and security providers may process limited technical information needed to deliver and protect the Site, such as IP address, browser and device type, requested pages, timestamps, referring page, diagnostic data, and security events.

If you separately contact a maintainer or contribute through a public source-code platform, the recipient may receive the information you choose to provide. Information posted publicly may remain public under that platform’s rules.

03

Network payloads are separate

This Site does not receive or route application payloads merely because they use the OpenPayload protocol. The network is community operated. Independent application developers and node operators determine what they process, why they process it, where it travels, and how long they retain it. Review the privacy terms and operating practices of every application and network service you choose to use.

Do not send sensitive, regulated, confidential, or production data through experimental software unless you have independently assessed the risks and established the controls and agreements required for your use case.

04

How technical information is used

Technical information may be used to deliver the Site, maintain reliability, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, protect users and infrastructure, understand aggregate traffic, and comply with legal obligations. The Site does not intentionally use personal information for targeted advertising or sell personal information for money.

05

Service providers and disclosure

Technical information may be handled by hosting, content-delivery, security, and infrastructure providers acting to operate the Site. Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse, or complete a reorganization or transfer of the Site, subject to applicable law.

Links from the Site lead to services with their own privacy practices. OpenPayload does not control those third-party services.

06

Retention and security

Technical information is retained only as reasonably needed for operations, security, troubleshooting, and legal obligations. No internet service can guarantee perfect security. The Site uses reasonable measures appropriate to an informational, experimental project, but you use it with that limitation in mind.

07

Your choices and rights

You can limit information sent by your browser, leave the Site, or avoid following third-party links. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of certain personal information. Direct a privacy request to Mandolare LLC through a private maintainer contact channel associated with the OpenPayload project. Do not include sensitive personal information in a public issue.

08

Children, changes, and questions

The Site is intended for developers and network participants and is not directed to children under 13. This policy may change as the Site or project changes. Material updates will be posted here with a revised effective date.

Questions about a particular application or community-operated node should be sent to that application developer or node operator. Those independent participants are responsible for their own practices.
